Creating of a Vision and Mission Statement
As I began my coursework at the beginning of the leadership program, I came to the realization that our school was in desperate need of a vision statement and a mission statement. A group called the "Rising Stars" and myself worked together in small groups at the elementary, middle, and high school levels to find out what others in the school felt that we needed to be at the core of what we wanted to provide for our students. We met on several occasions with both our small group and the "Rising Stars" group as well. The one thing that I expressed is that these statements needed to have ownership by all parties involved or they would have no meaning to anyone other than those of us trying to get these statements in place.
