School Council Meetings
Throughout the school year, I have served on the school council. There was one meeting since last June that I conducted for the group. However, the face of the council has changed greatly this year, as the majority of the council must be made up of parents. In addition, now a parent must conduct all the meetings. Currently, we have five parents, two teachers, two business owners, and the school principal on the council. At these meetings we find out what is taking place at the school with particular programs, testing, important dates, etc. There is a portion of the meetings where discussions can take place to discuss any issue parents or business owners feel may be pertinent to what is going on the community, especially where the school is concerned. I listened to what parents felt needed to be done to improve things at the school and explain things that they might not quite understand. I demonstrated some technological offerings we have for students to prepare for the CRCT and added information about our E-Math grant that is being implemented in grades 3-5.
